Man of my dreams!

11-21-2011: Never to be forgotten! Today is the day that Ian Somerhalder responded to me on facebook! Hey, that may not be a big deal for you, but for me.. HUGE. *swoon*

Conversation copied from FB:
ME: Finally! After an hour of searching facebook, I find the REAL you. Hi Ian!

Ian Somerhalder: Thank you.Nice to meet you

ME: My pleasure! Thank you for taking the time to notice. :)

Ian Somerhalder: you're welcome

Ian Somerhalder: I try not to disappoint my fans!

ME: Well, you're doing a wonderful job. :) It's nice (and a bit scary) to talk to someone like you!

ME: lol... (I'm secretly freaking out cuz I got to talk to Ian! *sigh*)

Ian Somerhalder: Thank you Theresa!

ME: lol... you're welcome! Just do me a favor and don't knock when you invade my dreams tonight. The husband probably wouldn't like that. hehe!

Ian Somerhalder: well I will not:)

ME: Perfect! Thanks. LOL

Armchari BEA: Day 3 – Networking

Armchair BEA

Networking

Surprise, surprise. I don’t have any real life networking stories. I’ve never been to a book signing or bookish event, and I don’t have a need to visit my library since I have about 100 books on my shelf waiting to be read. So, I don’t have any real life networking stories to share. I can say this though…

Online networking in the blogging community has been the best thing that has happened to me in a very long time. It led to the discovery of my career goal, and has provided me with an editing internship (which I’ve now completed) and the realization that I can indeed become an editor.

Since I don’t have any great signing stories, I’d love to hear yours! What was your favorite book event?

Theresa

Well, like you said. The Internet provides wonderful networking opportunities. But, I’m totally jealous of you editing internship. I’d love to take a tour someday of a publishing house to see how things work. A day in the life kind of thing. Thanks for participating in AC BEA.

Oh wow, how awesome that blogging helped you discover what you want to do in life. I’m so jealous of your editing internship! Best of luck in pursuing your goal!!! :)

The blogging community really is invaluable. I’ve heard of other people blogging and then discovering they want to try professional writing or editing. It’s a wonderful, helpful, supportive community. I hope you’re enjoying Armchair BEA! :-)

  • I think meeting my local peeps and also meeting stephanie Perkins and Gayle Forman :) I have made some real good friends online too.

  • Angela D. says:

I don’t have any real life networking stories either. But I’m really interested in how you started in with copy editing because I can totally see myself doing something like that!

    • Theresa says:

Hi Angela! Search online for inexpensive classes and tell everyone you know that you want to become an editor. :) Sooner or later, after enough classes and enough screaming it from the rooftops, someone will hear about an internship or entry level position somewhere. Determination and the will to make it happen is what made it come true for me. Good luck!

  • Suey says:

My favorite book event? Meeting Markus Zusak! He, who has also responded and tweeted me, just like I see Ian has you! :) I felt the very same way. Wahoo!

  • I don’t have any of those experiences either, but I did share another real life book memory! I think it’s so wonderful you managed to fix your career and all through the blogging and networking. It’s just awesome!

    My bookish real life story!
