Top Ten Books I Haven’t Read But Think I Should
Top Ten Tuesdays is a meme hosted by the lovely ladies at The Broke and Bookish.
The suggested topic for today was “Top Ten Best Bookish Memories”, but since I have never been to any type of bookish event, I chose a different topic.
We all hear people raving about the fabulous books they have read over and over again. The ones that changed their lives in some way–even the tiniest way. I know you guys know what I’m talking about, right? Those books that, when people find out you haven’t read them, you can envision their jaw dropping and a hush falling over the room. Yeah…
I’m actually ashamed of the list below, but I hoping there are others out there like me, so I won’t look quite so bad.
So, here are the…
Top Ten Books I Haven’t Read, But Think I Should
Wuthering Heights OR Jane Eyre
I couldn’t even begin to tell you how many times I have heard people praise these books. The opinions on which is better are fairly split, though, so which one should I read?
Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
This seems to be the one that everyone has read and I really need to get a copy.
Rebecca by Daphne DuMaurier
Historical Gothic Romance? YES, please!
The Book Thief by Markus Zusak
I know, I know! At least I already own this one.
It’s waiting ever so impatiently on my shelf.
The Giver by Lois Lowry
Just bought this one, too!
The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien
*hangs head in shame*
Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde
Bought this one last year and still haven’t read it! Gah!
On the Jellicoe Road by Melina Marchetta
Soooo many people have raved about this book! I just haven’t gotten my hands on it yet.
Divergent by Veronica Roth
I know! I can’t believe I haven’t read this yet, either.

There ya have it. My horribly embarrassing list of books I should have read already, but haven’t. Anyone in the same boat or have a suggestion about which one I should buy first? Help! LOL

It’s all good. I have only read one of your list. “The Hobbit”. Being a fantasy author you would think I cut my teeth on Tolkien, but truth be told, I didn’t read any of his books until the first LotR movie came out.
I haven’t read any of those either, although Divergent is on my list. I have read part of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, though. Does that sort of count? lol. Now, I will hang my head and admit that I also have not read Harry Potter. I tried to read it a couple of years ago and I was distracted by my own head — for some reason I was reading it with a British accent.
I figure someday I’ll grow up (not likely) and read it.
