Yours At Midnight

Please welcome author Robin Bielman to the blog!

Thanks so much for having me as a guest today, Theresa. I’m so happy to be visiting! Given that your focus here is all things paranormal, I thought I’d share a little something from Oliver’s point of view.

In my latest release from Entangled Publishing, Yours At Midnight, Oliver is deceased but still a very important part of the story.  The book begins with my heroine, Lyric, making a resolution to find a man. The man she unexpectedly finds is Quinn, Oliver’s twin brother. The three share a past, but it’s Lyric and Quinn’s future that Oliver wants to meddle in. Death won’t keep him from doing what he should have done while living—bring Quinn and Lyric together.

I hope you enjoy this snippet from Oliver:

Since my death, I’ve sat with my brother more times than I can count, but this is the first time I’ve been with him at our parents’ house. Usually it’s his apartment in New York or a business flight overseas. His presence brings me peace. My company brings him squat. Maybe once he lets go, once he forgives himself, then he’ll realize the accident wasn’t his fault. I want to tell him that, but I can’t. He won’t let me in. He doesn’t let anyone in. It’s damned annoying.

He looks in my direction. Can he feel I’m here? I wave my arms but his somber gaze goes right through me to the unlit Christmas tree. I stare at him. I wish he’d give up this stupid self-pity. It’s killing me to watch him day after day, year after year. I’ve had enough. And now that he’s home, now that Lyric is right next door, I’m going to do something about it.

I get up. Teddy senses me like he always does and walks beside me to the backyard. I ruffle his golden fur. Once outside, my skin prickles. It’s going to rain. Perfect. The heavens are with me on this one. The painted white gate needs fixing and has for some time. Teddy presses his nose against the wood and the door swings wide. There’s only one place he’ll go: Lyric’s.

Ten minutes later the doorbell rings, and I’m on the porch in an instant. I grin at Lyric and Teddy. Even wet from rainfall and gritting her teeth, Lyric is beautiful. Quinn is a lucky bastard. He better not blow it this time. It’s five days until New Year’s Eve. Five days to make the rest of his life worth living. My brother opens the door.

“Quinn?”

“Lyric? What are you doing here?”

She’s here to save you, dumbass.

Yours at Midnight

by Robin Beilman

Publisher: Entangled Publishing (Ever After) (December 18, 2012)

A bit about Robin Bielman’s novella, Yours at Midnight:

Lyric Whetsone only had eyes for Quinn Sobel’s brother Oliver, until a
car crash took Oliver’s life on New Year’s Eve. Then, a moment of shared grief between Quinn and Lyric became something more impassioned, something that frightened Quinn so much he ran from Lyric’s bed and her life, disappearing for four long years.
Now Quinn’s back for another New Year’s Eve, struggling for closure, desperate to leave his grief in the past and make amends with the girl of his dreams.
But Lyric has a secret–one that could drive Quinn from her life forever. Will Quinn run away from the love and acceptance he’s always
wanted…or will he claim his New Year’s kiss and make her his at
midnight?
